Dear members of the Circle of Friends
For the first time in a long time, we were able to invite you to a rehearsal of the Thursday concert on the 17th of this month. Far from everyone who wanted to join us, but the lucky ones were very happy to hear live music in the Concert Hall again.
Unfortunately, as we all know, the time of trials is by no means over. We can't see that far ahead and have to hear many things differently than usual. So far, DR has only put tickets for the first three of the autumn rehearsals on sale, and only on a very limited scale due to the authorities' orders.
The restrictions also affect the association's general meeting. According to the articles of association, it must be held in October and convened with at least 30 days' notice. The board has waited to set a date in the hope of being able to fulfil the provision despite the Corona situation. With the latest announcements from the government, especially the ban on gatherings of more than 50 people - so far until 4 October - we have to pull the emergency brake. Alternatively, we would have to restrict access to the general meeting, which would be pointless and against all rules. In other words, we will have to postpone the general meeting and thus also the convocation until we are sure that it can and must be held in a satisfactory manner.
Throughout the period from March, we have focused on keeping the organisation's very modest administration and member services intact so that we can move when the green light is given. This applies to the daily service to members, to events and now also to the organisation of the general meeting. It's no secret that some members have chosen not to renew their membership over the summer. This means less money for the association's purpose: to support DR's choirs and orchestras. The board would like to thank all of you who have supported the Friends' Association in a difficult time despite the uncertain conditions.
