Get to know the musicians and singers better

of.

Kristine Gether

I am a singer and 2nd alto in KoncertKoret. .

Music has always been a big part of my life, I started playing the violin at the age of 7. It was later replaced by the piano, and when I was a teenager in a musical, I lost my heart to singing. I flirted a bit with both musicals and jazz, but studying musicology at the University of Copenhagen led me back to my classical roots, and then I was accepted as a singer at the conservatory in The Hague. Even though I spent 8 years in the Netherlands, I still hadn't had enough of living abroad, so in 2009 I moved to Vienna, where I spent the next 5 years.

Professionally, my musical focus has almost always been church music. I have performed as a soloist in many a cantata, mass and passion by JS Bach, Handel and Mozart, and especially in the Netherlands I also performed a lot of modern compositional music.

I had unforgettable experiences in the world of opera as an assistant in the choir at the Vienna State Opera and in the summer in Salzburg for the Salzburg Festival.

As we all know, out is good, but there's no place like home. In 2014 I moved back to Denmark, and since 2016 I've been part of the big DR music family. Alongside DR, I'm a church singer and have concerts as a soloist. In terms of repertoire, I'm very much at home in music with a religious flavour, and particularly high on the list is music by Bach, Brahms and Mahler.

Kirstine Vestergaard

Born in 1979 in Odense.

Instrument: Oboe.

I started recorder in second grade because all the other girls in my class did. I was one of the few who stuck with it and I took up the oboe at the age of 14. Without really knowing what it was and what it would become. So kudos to my teacher for hitting the mark in her choice of instrument.

I joined DRSO in 2008.

I listen to a lot of different genres, my heart beats as much for rock as for classical music. The radio channel I listen to the most is P& Beat.

The hardest thing I've ever played? Most present is Daphnis and Chloé by Ravel. Technically an incredibly demanding piece!
