The concert hall is not the same, nor are the musicians - but there is at least one person in the audience who was there half a century ago. <\/p>\n

Since 1962, Ebba H\u00f8eg has been a regular guest at Thursday concerts with the Danish National Symphony Orchestra, first at Radiohuset and now at DR Koncerthuset in Copenhagen. And the music still has a big impact on her:<\/p>\n

- I'm so moved that I fly home on my bike and I'm in another world, says 83-year-old Ebba H\u00f8eg, as you can see in the video above.<\/p>\n

However, some things have changed over the years, says Ebba H\u00f8eg. For example, the musicians used to be able to drink an elephant beer - even before the concert! For the record, the orchestra back then was still able to attract conductors of pretty high calibre.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

The first Thursday concert was held on 28 September 1933, exactly 85 years ago today. And today, the concerts still connect with many Danes:<\/p>\n

In addition to the 1,800 seats in the hall itself each evening, 433,000 Danes listened to P2's broadcast of at least one of the 25 Thursday concerts played by the DR Symphony Orchestra last season.<\/p>\n

According to P2's Mathias Hammer, the Thursday concert is intended as an opportunity for all Danes to encounter great classical music:<\/p>\n

- It is a world-class concert event. It's a great musical event every single Thursday because we have a symphony orchestra that plays top-notch and has both the artistic and financial strength to play the biggest, most demanding programme with the best conductors and the best soloists in the most beautiful setting,\" says Mathias Hammer to DR2 Dagen.<\/p>\n
