My name is Otte Ottesen<\/p>\n

And was born in 1976 in N\u00e6stved<\/p>\n

I am the second tenor in DRKK<\/p>\n

Before I became a professional, I sang a lot in choirs; I spent many hours in Trinitatis Kantori & Lille MUKO while I was studying law. It's part of the story that my mum is a priest, and I spent a lot of time in church as a child, where I hung out with the church choir and was very interested in the organ. The fact that Poul Ruders played the organ for a while didn't diminish my interest, and as a big boy I thought I was going to be an organist. For a while I studied organ with Jens E. Christensen at Vor Frelser Kirke, but then I went to Sankt Ann\u00e6 Gymnasium, and there were so many other exciting things going on that I got sucked into that the organ slipped into the background. What remained was singing in the high school choir, at that time very inspiringly led by Michael Bojesen.<\/p>\n

I was in class with another tenor, Bo Kristian Jensen, so I realised during those years that solo singing could be a sport you did with a singing teacher, which could later become a way of life.<\/p>\n

There was something magical about that world, so when my singing teacher, Villy Rosengren, suggested that I apply to either the radio choir or the conservatory, I jumped at the chance and applied to the Conservatory in Copenhagen.<\/p>\n

They wanted me, but there were some minor subjects that needed to be finalised. In the second round, I got into a year with Sofie Elkj\u00e6r and Thomas Sigh, among others, and it was five stimulating years, during which I also started a family.<\/p>\n

I spent all my years with Hanna Hjort, who herself is a long-time Radio Choir singer in what was then called the Radio Chamber Choir, now the DR Vocal Ensemble. The idea of joining the DR Concert Choir wasn't far away, so around the time I finished my bachelor's degree, I was accepted into the choir and have been here on and off ever since.<\/p>\n

In 2012-2014 I was a permanent member of the choir of the Jutland Opera, and I have also performed with the Royal Opera Choir on several occasions. In addition, I am a \u201dbanister lark\u201d in the Danish National Church, today Godthaabskirken in Frederiksberg, before that a long number of years in Trinitatis Church, Copenhagen.<\/p>\n

I joined DRKK in 2009 and my first job was the inauguration of the DR Concert Hall.<\/p>\n

I frequently perform as a soloist in various contexts: oratorios, cantatas or, at the other end of the scale, home opera.<\/p>\n

The music of J.S. Bach is a kind of constant in my musical endeavours, which I love, whether I'm singing the Ripieno choir in Enghave Barok or taking the lead in the role of Evangelist.<\/p>\n

My debut as an evangelist in Bach's St John Passion was difficult: It's a big part where you have to tie the whole plot together and are therefore constantly on your feet, and it's also harmonically very \u201dspicy\u201d; the notes constantly jump in different directions than you think, so there's never a sanctuary where you can just stand and make sounds because you have to be constantly aware of what the notes say. On top of that, you're left with a flimsy accompaniment that you can't rely on or get much help from.<\/p>\n

In the choral context, Bach's name comes up again; the B minor Mass in 2016 with the DRVokalensemble brought me to my feet - and I also have to mention Frantz Schmidt's \u201dDas Buch des Sieben Segln\u201d in 2017, which brought grey hairs to the heads of even seasoned, musically strong singers.<\/p>\n

My name is Soo-Kyung Hong<\/p>\n

I was born: on. 14 December 1977 in Seoul, Korea<\/p>\n

I am a solo cellist<\/p>\n

I started playing the piano at the age of 3 and the cello at 5. Born into a musical family with my father, who was a dentist but also a passionate amateur singer, my mother who is a pianist and 3 siblings who all play musical instruments and are now professional musicians, music has been a big part of my life. <\/p>\n

I went to Vienna at the age of 14 and studied at the Wiener Musikhochschule for 8 years and then moved on to Cologne and again to Copenhagen. to continue my studies.<\/p>\n

I'm also the cellist in Trio con Brio Copenhagen.<\/p>\n

I joined the DR Symphony Orchestra: in 2009<\/p>\n

I have received over the years:<\/p>\n

ARD Wettbewerb, P2 Chamber Music Competition, Premio Vittorio Gui Firenze, Chamber Music Competition in Trondheim, Haydn Wettbewerb Wien, KLR Award in USA<\/p>\n

Beethoven, Brahms, Schumann are my favourites, but I also love Slavonic music.<\/p>\n

The hardest game I've ever played?<\/p>\n

Mozart.... It's so hard to play really well!<\/p>\n
