As reported in the media, wider public access to venues has now been opened up. This also applies to DR's Koncerthuset.
In concrete terms, this means that the concert on Thursday will be held with 500 people in the auditorium, while the concert on 5 June, when composer Unsuk Chin receives the 2021 Léonie Sonning Music Prize, will also be open to a larger audience.
Of course, we would like to give our members the opportunity to enjoy the rehearsals at these two concerts during the season. Unfortunately, DR can't open up access to these rehearsals, partly because they are not conducted as regular dress rehearsals as we know them.
On the other hand, everything points to the fact that right around the Malko competition, which starts on 7 June, we will be able to offer an extra comprehensive programme for the entire coming season. A programme that will take us back to the good ”old” days, before the restrictions prevented us from enjoying DR's choirs and orchestras in the Concert Hall. And as mentioned, with a wider range of rehearsals than we usually offer.
For the association, this also means that in the autumn we can finally hold a general meeting with a presentation of two years of activities and, unfortunately, a lack thereof. BUT, we have saved the dues money from our loyal members, so we can already promise more scholarships and thus more music and singing than at previous general meetings.
You will hear from us again when we present next year's concert programme around mid-June, which is also the time to renew your membership of the Friends.
