Venneforeningen welcomes the Minister of Culture's decision to drop plans to separate DR's choirs and orchestras from DR. "We have warned against the plans that were announced last year. We said that it would harm the dissemination of classical music and the artistic level of the ensembles, especially if the proposed merger with the Royal Danish Theatre took place. We have also found it difficult to understand how money could be saved by such a manoeuvre.
Now there is a study of the economic consequences. It says the same thing and even quantifies it: No savings and risk of deterioration in communication and quality.
Against this background, there are NO good arguments in favour of a “detachment” from DR. Mette Bock has realised this and said even before the negotiations on a media agreement that the government has no plans for a separation.
