At the beginning of the new year, we can celebrate that the 106 musicians of the DR Symphony Orchestra
have had their permanent place in this unique and beautiful hall for 10 years now. Forward-thinking
politicians and a brave DR management and board of directors decided that here at
One of the world's best concert halls was to be built at Amager Fælled. The Japanese
acoustician Yasuhisa Toyota won the architectural competition together with
Frenchman Jean Nouvel, and a new iconic building was created.
Today, DR Koncerthuset is a permanent workplace for singers and musicians in the DR Big Band,
DR SymfoniOrkestret, DR VokalEnsemblet, DR KoncertKoret, DR Korskolen
and DR PigeKoret. Every year, the house invites musical guests of almost all ages.

Over the years, the DR Symphony Orchestra and the Concert Hall have grown symbiotically
together. The hall has characterised and developed the orchestra's musicians - both their
individual sound and expression and their interplay. The distinguished artistic
development has meant that the Danish National Symphony Orchestra is now one of the
international classical music scene. In March, the orchestra will be travelling with
Chief Conductor Fabio Luisi on a two-week tour to Japan, where we are invited to
play in 10 of the country's largest concert halls.
Music affects people in many ways. It can make sad moments
more affordable, give voice to joyful moments - and it can be used during holidays,
like the New Year, give us a respite and an opportunity to stop and join together
