My name is Gunnar Lychou, I was born in 1961 and have worked in DRSO since 1988. I am employed as a 3 solo player in the viola group. I grew up in Sweden, in the town of Karlskoga. There was a good teacher there, and not least a good amateur orchestra. I had many great experiences there, without which I would not have become a musician.
In fact, it was while I was doing my military service that I discovered how wonderful it was to play the viola. After a day of drills, it was a treat for the soul to stand and play Bach! That's when I decided to really try to follow the path of music! And not least to practice all the hours it takes!
After studying at DKDM with the wonderful teacher Josef Kodousek, I got a job at DRSO. I have been on “excursions” in both CPH Phil, which was called the Zealand Symphony Orchestra at the time, and in the DR Entertainment Orchestra, which fortunately lives on! There I had the great pleasure of experiencing Adam Fischer, definitely one of my favourite conductors over the years. Together with Thomas Dausgaard, Rafael Fruhbeck de Burgos, and our current fantastic chief conductor, Fabio Luisi.
One that also stands out in my memory is of course Kurt Sanderling. His performance of Shostakovich Symphony No. 5 is perhaps my most powerful experience ever! It was magical, everyone knew exactly what story we were conveying to the audience! I'm proud to be part of DRSO and hope that we can continue the fine development that is underway!
My name is Rebecca Forsberg Svendsen, I was born in Sweden but have lived in Copenhagen since 1995.
I am a trained singer from the Royal Danish Academy of Music and I sing mezzo-soprano. It's a middle voice between soprano and alto. The mezzo-soprano can sing both high and low, but with a darker timbre than the soprano. In the DR Koncertkoret I sing alto 1.
In addition to my work at DR, which began in 2014, I work freelance as a soloist and ensemble singer. I have been doing this for almost 23 years. I participate in many different groups, including Musica Ficta, DR Vokalensemblet, Copenhagen Soloists, Göteborg Baroque.
I am often engaged as a soloist, in opera, musical theatre, often with a baroque orchestra.
I produce my own shows, films and concerts. I'm currently having great success with the character Mona Malmstrøm, a slightly crazy yellow lady looking for a tuba (Watch Mona on YouTube, search for Mona's Magazine).
I love it when I'm challenged and the notes and interplay become difficult. Then we just have to practice a LOT to get good. That's why I can't answer what has been the hardest thing I've sung.
